    The transfer of biological characters from one generation to another via genes is called heredity. Genes are present in DNA which has special codons to transfer some characteristics from their parents to offspring. 

Why the science of heredity Is useful

Heredity is useful in many ways. It can very helpful to humans and other animals also to transfer the genetic material from one generation to another. 
  • For diagnosis of hereditary disorders.
  • For the treatment of hereditary disorders.
  • For prevention of hereditary disorders.
  • For the production of hybrid varieties of animals and plants.
  • For using microbes in industrial processes.

Scientists prove that genes are carried via chromosomes.

  1. John Gregor Mendel pioneer of Modern Genetics.
  2. Hugo de Vries has proposed the mutation theory in 1901.
  3. Walter and Sutton observe the paired chromosomes in the cells of the grasshopper in 1902.
